On June 5, 1864, new recruits Samuel S. Slaght (Straight / Slaight) and Richard H. Wiggins of Co. I. 26th Michigan, joined the regiment at Cold Harbor, Virginia. They were both discharged by Special Order No. 140, dated June 3, 1865. Richard Wiggins of Williamston, Ingham County, had enlisted on March 14, 1864, at the age of 29. His wife, Anna J. Wiggins was a member of the Williamston Women's Relief Corps. Richard returned to Williamston as a member of the Eli P. Alexander G.A.R. Post 103. In 1908 he attended the 43rd Annual Reunion of the regiment in Fowlerville and died on January 16, 1922. Their graves are in the Fairview Cemetery at Dansville, Ingham County. 25th Michigan service included: Cold Harbor, Petersburg including Deep Bottom, Ream's Station, Cedar Level Station, White Oak Swamp & Hatcher's Run, Fort Fisher, including Sayler's Creek & Farmville, Appomattox and The Grand Review.
