John owned and operated Allen Oil Company in Omaha until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Gladys, and sons Lynn, Scott and Bob and four grandchildren, all of Omaha, and a brother, Mac Allen, of Blair.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Walter, William and Rollo; three sisters, Gertrude Merritt, Odile Cary and an infant sister.
Casket bearers were Gerald Allen, Chauncey Allen, David Allen, Mark Allen, Gene Denker and Dick Vinton.
