Eddie was born in Swan Creek, Michigan, the son of Alexander (1829-1919) and Ellen (nee Jones) Wise (1866-1952), and the brother of Ethel (b. 1889), Eleanor (b. 1890), Joseph Clair (1893-1973), and Gertrude (1895-1955). Following his parents' marriage on May 16, 1888, in York Township, Ontario, Canada, the family emigrated to Michigan in 1891.
He lived in Los Angeles in the 1930's and eventually met and married Dare (nee Montgomery) on January 9, 1937. Their only son, Denny, was born in Tucson, Arizona, in November of 1940.
Following a diagnosis of Hodgkin's Disease, contracted during his military service as a sailor during World War I, he died at the Long Beach, California, Veteran's Administration Hospital.
