Alva Herbert Moore, eldest son of Jasper and Etta Allard Moore was born on March 21, 1872 in Iowa County, Iowa and died at Des Moines, Iowa, September 15, 1933 aged 61 years, 5 months and 2 days.

When 9 years old he with his parents moved to Adair County, Iowa where he grew to manhood and lived near Fontanelle until 1900. He went to Oklahoma, since then living in North Dakota and Canada. For the past 15 years he has lived in Des Moines where he followed the carpenters trade. He had been ailing for 21/2 years and 22 months had been confined to his bed. He leaves one sister, Mrs. Norris Thomas and one brother J.M. Moore both of Fontanelle.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 18 at Highland church conducted by Rev. James Walls where he attended church as a boy. Interment in Prussia cemetery beside his parents. Pallbearers: Wm. And Ollie Hemphill, Press Bailey, Wm. Bolton, Sherm Purdy and Howard Montgomery. Music by the male quartet of Highland, Edgar Zook, John Norton, Oscar Lowdermilk and Wm. Hemphill. Songs "Going Down the Valley," "Let the Lower Lights be Burning," and "Rock of Ages."

Those attending the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Weidlem, cousins, of Wellman, Iowa; Miss Martha McShane, Miss Ella McShane and Miss Margaret Drumm of Des Moines.
