Reggie was 6'4" tall. He worked the coal mines of Switchback and Bluefield West Virginia. In 1941 he broke his back in a coal mining accident and died 42 days later as a result of complications (gangrene) in the Bluefield Sanatarium Hospital. He died in the arms of Marvin Wilburn, his brother-in-law.
