Funeral services for Earl Thomas Chastain of Lebanon, were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 1970 at the First Assembly of God Church with the Revs. C.R. Hampton and Lewis Seay officiating. Burial was in Mt. Rose Memorial Park, directed by Colonial Chapel.

The John Shumate family sang What a Friend and Last Mile Of The Way. Escorts were Warren Knight, Ed Maynard, Ted Tasker, Joe Richards, Bill Marley and Don Allen. Honorary escorts were Don Curtis, Elwood Gann, Gayford Davis, Jewell Johnson, Gerald Peters and Dave Ryan.

Earl Thomas Chastain, son of Thomas and Sarah Kimberlin Chastain was born September 27, 1902 in Laclede County, Missouri and died July 13, 1970 at his home.

June 12, 1926 he was united in marriage with Ethel Coffey, to this union were born five children. One son Ray preceded him in death in 1952.

Earl, as he was known to his many friends, had spent all his life in Laclede County. Had worked for the City of Lebanon for a number of years, retiring about a year ago.
He attended the First Assembly of God Church in Lebanon.

Survivors include his wife Ethel of the home; two sons, James and Bobby; two daughters, Mrs. Glenda Reeves and Mrs. Dottie Johnson; one brother, Jim Chastain, and two sisters, Mrs Opal Walker and Mrs. Bertha Elam, all of Lebanon; also 6 grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Tommy Franklin, one grandson, Steven Chastain in 1965 and by one brother Alfred in 1968.
