Arthur ‘Art' W. Blitch, 78, of Pensacola died Thursday, June 8, 1995. Mr. Blitch was a native of Augusta, Ga., but had resided in Pensacola for the 22 years. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, receiving the Silver Star for his service. After his military service, Mr. Blitch joined Rhodes Furniture Store as a salesman, and retired in 1978. He was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 497 and was a faithful member of St Mark United Methodist church. Survivors include his wife, Edith C. Blitch of Pensacola; three daughters and sons-in-law, Claudia Ann and Ed Edmonson of Mobile, Ala., Jeanette Massangale of Pensacola and Carol and John Kirke of New Orleans; four sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen Butler and Brenda Blitch of Mobile, John Allan and Ginger Long of Tampa, George Richard & Susan Long of Jackson, Ala., and Dr. Joseph M. Tina Long of South Bend., Ind., 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Graveside services with military honors will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 12 in Barrancas National Cemetery with the Rev. Paul D. Wolfe officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Blitch's grandsons. Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Pensacola Elks Lodge No. 497 services will be held at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark United Methodist church.
