Daniel Leroy McLaughlin, 86, of 50 Spring Garden Estates, South Middleton Township, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, in Carlisle Hospital.
Born on July 23, 1914, in Newville, he was a son of the late Roy B., and Margaret C. Dehaven McLaughlin.
Mr. McLaughlin resided in Carlisle for the past 33 years.
He was a 1933 graduate of Newville High School and was an Army veteran of World War II.
He retired with 33 years of service from Hershey Foods, where he served as plant manager in Newville. After his retirement he was employed by Big Spring School District's Plainfield Elementary School.
Mr. McLaughlin was a member of First Church of the Brethren in Carlisle.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for 61 years, a life member of the White Circle Club and a member of the Golden Age Club, all of Carlisle. He was also a member of American Legion Post 421 in Newville and AARP.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Grace Neff McLaughlin; two sons, Larry L. McLaughlin of Mt. Holly Springs and Ronald R. McLaughlin of Warner Robins, Ga.; a daughter, Vonnie M. Lay of Newville; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. McLaughlin was preceded in death by his first wife, Clover M. George McLaughlin, who died in 1967.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. John D. Byers officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens in North Middleton Township.
