Dorothy was born in 1929, the daughter of Clarence Edward Lee and Marceline Salina Soulliere. She grew up on Montrose Street on the west side of Detroit, and attended Mackenzie High School.

She married Al Nemeth in 1946, and they made their home in Livonia. They divorced in 1960.

Dorothy held many challenging positions over the years, including being head cashier at Mohawk Lumber in the early 1950's, and managing the popular Paul's Steak House Restaurant in Redford Township in the late 1950's.

Dorothy married Lou Bingham in 1961 and they made their home in Detroit. She devoted the next few years to homemaking, then around 1969, Dorothy returned to school and found that she liked it very much. She took evening classes at Henry Ford Community College for several years, then transferred to Eastern Michigan University, where she earned her Masters Degree in Speech Pathology. She followed that up by earning her Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) with an internship at Veteran's Administration Hospital in Allen Park.

Dorothy then worked with patients who were recovering from strokes and children with speech difficulties. She loved her work, and was very good at it.

In 1977 Dorothy and Lou founded Dab Dolls Ltd., a small company that made reproductions of antique porcelain dolls. The two of them were a frequent sight at various Art shows and Craft shows in the Metropolitan Detroit area in the early 1980's. Several of their dolls won ribbons at the Michigan State Fair.

Some of the dogs that Dorothy owned and loved during her lifetime were Abbie, Mac, Lass, Rhoda and Charlie.

IF ROSES GROW IN HEAVEN

If roses grow in Heaven, Lord
Please pick a bunch for me.
Place them in my Mother's arms
And tell her they're from me.
Tell her I love and miss her
and when she turns to smile,
Place a kiss upon her cheek,
and hold her for awhile.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day.
But there is an ache within my heart
that will never go away.
