MACDOEL - Viola Fay Byler Andrus, 75, Macdoel, died Friday at MWMC in Klamath Falls.

Mrs. Andrus was in Washington to John and Estella Byler. She was raised and educated mostly in Canada.

In 1934, she moved to Dorris, where she helped to establish the Gray Hospital. She subsequently owned and operated the Dorris Hotel for 23 years and was a forest service lookout for seven years.

She retired with her husband Roy in Macdoel

Mrs. Andrus was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. Albert Gray, to whom she was married in 1928, and by her second husband, Carl Hayes, to whom she was married in 1944.

She was married to Roy Andrus January 13, 1967.

As a young girl, she perfomred on the piano for silent movies. She also played the piano in her own orchestra. She enjoyed creating India ink drawings.

Survivors include her husband of Macdoel; daughters, step-son, step-daughters, brother, sisters, 11 grandsons, six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lakeview Cemetery in Macdoel.
