Easter Kitty came into my life just before I was to get married in May. I asked for a kitten as some friends had them to give away. My fiancee said yes I could have one but I had to name the kitten Easter.

When I went to pick out the kitten she looked like a multi colored Easter egg so Easter was a perfect name for her. She was also born around Easter that year.

She was a fiesty one, she would hide around corners and literally attack our feet as we walked by. Sometimes startling us so much that we would almost fall over.

I was going to have major surgery in July,we made a decision that since she was spayed we would let her outside as I would be hobbling around the house and didn't need to be knocked over by her. She loved it outside as any kitty does. She always came home for dinner or would chase the mockingbirds in the yard.

One evening as I was cooking dinner a car came speeding over the hill by my house, there were neighborhood kids outside playing. As they dashed back off of the sidewalk Easter tried to make it across to the house. She was startled by the kids running from this car. She didn't make it, the car hit her and kept on going.

I buried Easter Kitty in the backyard, holding a small flashlight in my mouth as I dug the hole for her. She was the first pet that I had lost since I was a child, it broke my heart. However she was the first cat I had for my own and she made me love cats so much that I would go on to have others.
