Mary Jane Green, 57, entered into eternal rest on December 30, 2008.

Born November 11, 1951, to the late Cordelia Jane Pollard-Green and Alphonso Green in Charlottesville, Virginia. Mary Jane was educated in the Charlottesville City Schools.

At an early age, she gave her life to Christ. For many years, she did nursing work for in-home patients, and enjoyed working in the deli at Harris Teeter. In her free time, Mary Jane loved to play Bingo, and was known to her friends as the "Bingo Queen." She also loved to cook, fish on weekends, and especially to dress up for New Year's and other special occasions. Mary Jane rededicated her life to Christ and lived her final days in peace and comfort, surrounded by her daughter and family.

She was preceded in death by two Aunts, Louise Harris and Ida Blakey.

Left to cherish her loving memory are one brother, George Green of Washington D.C; eight children, Tambla, Tony, Shakanda, Briana, Anthony and Victor Green of Charlottesville, Virginia, Aminta Green of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Omar Green of Bridgeport, Vermont; nine grandchildren, Frederick, Qumell, Jaquan, Quoshad, Swavyon, Tia, Pleasant, Johnny III and Kaleyanna of Charlottesville, Virginia; a long-term companion, Tyrone Deshaz of Charlottesville, Virginia; one God sister, Brenda Fountain of Charlottesville, Virginia; a loving caregiver, Karen Barnes, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

A Memorial service will be held at Noon, Thursday, January 8, 2009, at Charlottesville Church of Christ, officiated by Bishop Hayes.

The family wishes to express great appreciation for the compassion they received from the Hospice of the Piedmont, the University of Virginia Cancer Center, and especially Dr. Reid.
