Berryton - Martha M. Anderson, 71, Berryton, died Monday, June 15, 1998, at a Topeka care center.
She was born March 26, 1927, in Berryton, to Walter and Flora E. Murrison Flohrschutz, and spent most of her life in the Berryton and Tecumseh communities. She was graduated as valedictorian from Berryton High School in 1944. She worked for the Kansas Selective Service headquarters, in the Santa Fe Railway Offices and then for Kansas Construction Trades 19 years before she retired.
She attended Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church and was a member of Pins & Needles Quilting group and Berryton Golden Timers. She was a Let's Help Heartland Share volunteer many years.
She was married to Robert T. Anderson April 15, 1948, in Topeka. They operated a dairy farm. He died April 30, 1988.
Survivors include sons, Steven D. Anderson, Tulsa, Okla., and Gregory R. Anderson, Emporia; brothers, Walter E. "Gene" Flohrschutz, Salina, Keith E. Flohrschutz, Colby, and Kenneth L. Flohrschutz, Berryton; a sister, Alice A. Bullock, Berryton; a grandson and a granddaughter.
Private graveside services will be at Lynn Creek Cemetery near Berryton. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church. Mrs. Anderson will lie in state after 1 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Highland Chapel Funeral Home in Topeka.
