Mrs. Sarah Jane (Smith) Benton 80, of Kittanning RD 3 died at 3 p.m. Monday (Oct. 17, 1960) in her home following a lingering illness. Mrs. Benton was born June 4, 1880 in Craigsville, a daughter of W. Wallace and Mary Etta (McMillen) Smith. Her husband Walter F. Benton died in 1951. She was a member of Ford Memorial Methodist Church. She is survived by five children, Mrs. Edward (Joy) Lasher of Saltsburg, Mrs. Percy (Nina) Heilman of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., Joseph Benton of Carmichaels, and John F. Benton and Homer R. Benton of Kittanning RD 3. Also surviving are seven- grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Friends are being received at Welch funeral home, Ford City, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will take place at 2 Thursday afternoon in- the Welch funeral home with Rev. William S. Van Ryn, pastor of Ford Memorial Methodist Church in charge. Burial will be made in Worthington Lutheran cemetery.
