Walter Franklin Benton, 70, died at 4:45 a.m. this morning, Dec. 18, 1951, at his home in Kittanning R.D. 2. Well known in the Ford City area, Mr. Benton had been employed for a time by the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company. He also worked at the O’Connor Street Garage with a son-in-law, and for a time with a son at the Garretts Run Store. He was born Oct. 19, 1881, in West Franklin Township, the son of John Franklin and Harriet Melissa (Anthony) Benton. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Jane (Smith) Benton, and five children; two daughters, Mrs. E. H. Lasher, and Mrs. P.P. Heilman, both of Ford City and three sons, Joseph of Carmichaels, Pa., John of Kittanning and Homer of Ford City. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. William Smith of Kittanning, and seven grandchildren. He was a member of the Ford City Methodist church. Friends will be received at the Welch funeral home. Funeral arrangements are not completed.
