TOWN SADDENED BY TRAGIC DEATH OF DWIGHT BLONDEN

Christmas spirit was dampened Sunday by the tragic auto death of Dwight Blonden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Blonden. Blonden's coupe went out of control at approximately 1:30 am on the corner of Tigner Road near the county gravel pit and went over an embankment. He was thrown out of the vehicle which landed on his leg. No one witnessed the accident, however what was believed to have been a few minutes later, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Cope, who were driving home, discovered the mishap and summoned help. Blonden was taken to the Clinic where he died shortly after 2 am. Dwight, with his twin brother Duane, was born on September 25, 1932, in Bellingham. The family moved to Cashmere in 1944 from Vancouver, Wash., and have resided here since. Dwight graduated from Cashmere High School in 1952 with his two brothers, Duane and Dick. He was active in school affairs and was a member of the track sprinting team.
He was discharged from US Army Tank Corps three months ago and was presently enrolled In Wenatchee Valley College. He was 24.
Funeral services were held at 2 pm Wednesday in the Methodist Church with Rev. Clinton Alton officiating. Interment was held in the Cashmere cemetery.
