The funeral service for Archie H. Scott of Paris will be at 1 PM Thursday at Ridgeway Funeral Home.

Fred Shackleford, Jimmy Huffman, Jerry Massey and Lynn Paschall will officiate. Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery.

Chosen as pallbearers are Joe Lankford, Donald Bomar, Phillip Steele, Jerry Culpepper, Glenn Page, Lou Carter, Carl Herndon and John Robbins.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Believers Sunday school class of Springhill Baptist Church and Gary VanCleave, Carpenter Jones, Nellie Szabo and Ernie and Barbara Padgett.

Visitation will be from 4:30-8 PM today and after 10 AM Thursday.

Scott, 92, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, at Henry County Medical Center.

He was married Nov. 14, 1936, to the former Mary Steele, who survives.

Born Oct. 26, 1913, in Paris, he was a son of the late Dave and Grace Graham Scott.

He attended VanDyke School, formerly in Henry County, and Henry School. He retired from Henry County Monument Works and was a farmer.

He was the oldest member of Springhill Baptist Church, where he joined on Aug. 9, 1930.

In addition to his wife, he leaves one daughter: Anne (Reed) Brewer of Paris; three sisters: Gladys Bell, Helen Crews and Evelyn VanCleave, all of Paris; and one grandchild: David (Tracy) Brewer of Paris.

He also was preceded in death by two sisters: Earlene Cole and Merle Dunlap; and three brothers: Hollis, Charlie and Douglas “Jack” Scott.

The family requests funds to be given to the Springhill Baptist Church building fund, c/o Johnny Foust, 2740 Highway 77, Paris or to the April Sykes fund, c/o Security Bank & Trust Co., P.O. Box 1209, Paris.

Scott, 92 died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, at Henry County Medical Center.

His funeral was scheduled at 1 PM today at Ridgeway Funeral Home. Burial was to follow in Palestine Cemetery.
