Mr. Richard Lynn Herrington age 22 of 4669 Blue Water Street, Southport died Sunday May 24, 2009.

Richard was born in Sanford, NC on October 4, 1986 and was the son of Charles "Chuck" Herrington of Southport and Elizabeth Connelly and step-father Vince of Southport. Mr. Harrington moved to Southport from Sanford nine months ago. He was a certified firefighter and medical responder. He was a student at Brunswick Community College in the Basic Law Enforcement Training Class. Being a firefighter brought great joy in Richard's life; but most of all being with his wife and daughter and family. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, four wheelers and motorcycles.

Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife, Elizabeth Herrington of the home; his daughter, Raegan Herrington of the home; brother, Charles Wicker of Southport ; grandmother, Mary Herrington of Southport.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday May 27, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Service with Reverend Charles Drew Officiating.

Burial will follow in Cape Fear Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
