Obituary.
Zora Long Waggoner, daughter of Jonathan and Susan Long, was born in Owen County, October 24, 1872, and died November 29, 1918, at her residence in Spencer, aged 46 years, 1 month and 5 days. She was united in marriage with Emery Waggoner November 28, 1895. No children came to bless this union but she proved a real mother to the two motherless sons of her husband. She gave her heart to God in her youth and united with the M.E. Church at Vandalia and her membership in this church has been a great comfort and strength to the pastors, and many friends who have sat at her table and enjoyed the bounty of her hospitality and service of kindness. We must overtake her on the highlands of that better country. The Lord graciously saved her from the pain of a long illness for she went peacefully and quietly after only a few days of sickness. Mrs. Waggoner had a sunny nature and was always light hearted and happy and won the love and esteem of all those with whom she came in contact. She has always proved her true Christian spirit in administering to the sick and needy. In her death, the community loses a friend and the two sons, Roy and Earl a devoted mother. She leaves besides the sons, a loving father and mother, two brothers, a sister and many other relatives, her husband having preceded her in death. But their loss is her eternal gain.
