He lived in Artesia until moving to Toledo, Ohio in 1987. He was a painter in the construction industry and member of First Baptist Church in Artesia.
Survivors include his parents Lloyd and Yvonne Polk of Artesia; a brother Billy Polk and wife Cindy of Artesia; a sister Jerrie Darnell and husband Jim of Artesia; his grandmother Averille Dew of Artesia; a niece Brandi Polk; nephews Dustin Polk, Jimmy Darnell, Josh Darnell and Jonathan Darnell; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
