Alton Eldora Maynard was the daughter of William Nathaniel Maynard and Alton Eldora Jackson. She married Ernest Jefferson Edwards on May 16, 1927. Her husband was a dairy farmer and had a farm along the Tobosofkee creek in the Lizella area of Bibb County. She had two daughters. The first was Elinor Latane Edwards who lived most of her married life in the Norcross area and the second was Elizabeth Ann known as Betsy Ann who lived in the Bibb County area for most of her life and was living in her parents homeplace at the time of her death. Alton Eldora loved to fish and had a fishing pond built after her husband's death in 1961. Alton Eldora's obituary read as follows:
Mrs. Eldora M. Edwards Services for Mrs. Eldora Maynard Edwards of Fulton Mill Road, who died Thursday in a local hospital after a long illness will be held at 11 am today in the chapel of Hart's Mortuary. Elder Terrell Hancock will officiate with burial in Macon Memorial Park. Mrs. Edwards had been a resident of Bibb County 40 years, coming here from Monroe County. She was educated in the public schools and attended college at GSCW in Milledgeville and also the Georgia-Alabama Business College in Macon. She taught school in Dublin and was secretary to the president of Mercer University at one time. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Howard Maxwell of Norcross, and Mrs. Carl Venable of St. Augustine, Fla.; two brothers, C.C. and BB Maynard both of Forsyth; three sisters, Mrs. Louise Mankin, and Mrs. L. D. Moulton, both of Forsyth and Mrs. Culver Jordan of Macon. The family will be at the home of Mrs. Culver Jordan on Lower Thomaston Road. Hart's Mortuary is in charge. (1968)
