Son of William J. Storie, Sr. and Emily M. Carr. Younger half brother to Ella (Storie) Mukomella, David Storie, Annie (Storie) Connor, and Anna Mae (Mathews) Harmon. Older brother to George D. Storie.

Bill was a charter member of the Screaming Eagles of the 101st Airborne Division in World War II.

Following World War II he found his way to the Twin Cities area where he worked as a mechanical engineer. He enjoyed dancing with his wife and creating works of art in stained glass.
