John William Brite, also known as Will, was born February 3, 1873, in Bexar County, Texas to Charles Henry Brite, born in Missouri and Alva Allison, Thompson, born in Texas. He stood 5ft 10in tall, had gray eyes, brown hair and a dark complexion. He was married to Mattie Bell Foster, 22 June 1892. They had seven children. In 1900, John was living in Sutton County, Texas. By 1910, he was a stock man, living in Val Verde County, Texas. He enlisted in the Texas Rangers as a SPECIAL RANGER from December 3, 1917 until January of 1919 in Company A Volunteers. He was still living in Val Verde County, Texas in 1930. John William Brite died April 16. 1955, in Val Verde County, Texas, and was buried in the Westlawn Cemetery of Del Rio, Val Verde County, Texas.
