The local democratic club met recently and endorsed T. L. Francis, C.J. Anderson and J.A. Payne as candidates for township trustees. Other endorsements will likely come along later, the principal one being the candidate for county commissioner. Whether Col. Hansford will be the lucky man or not is not known, as there seemed to be several who covet the place now held by P.L. Campbell. Of course its none of our business, but it looks very much like the proper thing to do is to get behind one may and thus elect him. Talihina is entitled to the commissioner this next term, and if great care is not taken the usual mistake will be made and a man from over the mountain will slip in. Harmony in the democratic ranks is almost an unknown quantity, and as usual, the personal desires of many candidates will no doubt split up the votes so that none of our candidates will win.

J.A. Payne is reported quite sick.

J.A. Payne came to town on Tuesday morning, the first time in seven weeks, having been laid up with a combination of malaria and blood poison.
