Funeral service for Sam John Jones, 47, of Bon Wier, Texas, were Friday, Oct. 22, at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Rev. Wade Carroll officiated. Graveside services followed at Hoot Hughes Cemetery in Bon Wier.
Master Sergeant Jones was a graduate of Newton High School in 1975. He served in the Marines for 21 years and retired in May 1996. He served in Operation Desert Storm and in Bosnia. He was a member of the VFW and Bon Wier Baptist Church. He was employed as a Medical Technician at Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder.
Survivors include his mother, Ardis Pemberton Jones of Bon Wier; two brothers, Randy Lee Jones and Daniel Ray Jones, both of Bon Wier; and two sisters, Linda Jones Mann of Bon Wier and Kathy Jones Homeniuk of Killgore, Texas.
