WEST HOMER, July 6 – The funeral of Mr. Merritt Hopkins was largely attended yesterday afternoon at his late residence. Mr. Salisbury, pastor of the Baptist church of which Mr. Hopkins was a member, officiated. Deceased was sixty-five years of age and has lived in Summerhill since he was a young man. He leaves a wife, one son and three daughters to mourn their loss. His remains were buried in West Homer cemetery. Mr. Hopkins was a respected citizen of his town, and had held several offices of trust. He was justice of the peace for three terms, always judicious and careful in his official rulings, and will be missed by his fellow citizens and friends.
