Granddaughter D. Thompson shares:
Columbus died of cancer at Low Gap where he had been living at his daughter Bertha's house. His daugher Beulah said he wanted to be buried at Shiloh beside Ora Mae. Ora Mae was he and Mattie's oldest daughter who was killed by lightening at age 16 while she, Columbus, and Claude were hoeing corn. She had bobby pins in her hair and was killed instantly. They couldn't get up the mountain to the Shiloh Cemetary due to a landslide; therefore, he is buried at Low Gap.
