End came Tuesday morning to John Fry Stewart near Montgomery. Was Eighty eight years of age and a leading citizen of the county.
Mr. John Fry Stewart, one of the oldest and most highly esteemed citizens of the county, died last Tuesday morning at the home of his son, Mr. W.T. Stewart, near Montgomery, seven miles east of Cadiz.
Mr. Stewart had been in poor health for several years. He was a sufferer from a complication of troubles, but was able to be up most of the time, and went about the place at will but seldom left the home.
Mr. Stewart was a native of Georgia. He was one of nine children and was eighty eight years of age. He came to Trigg County when quite young and had lived here ever since.
Many years ago he was married to Miss Malissa Louise Stewart, who died fifteen years ago last Saturday. Six children were born to that union, only three of whom are living- Mrs. B.P. Overby, Mrs. Fay H. Jones, and W.T. Stewart, all living near Montgomery. One brother, Mr. Ruebin J. Stewart, of Hopkinsville, also survives him. Mr. Stewart was a man of splendid mind, a successful farmer, and for years had been a leading citizen of his community and the county.
Funeral services were held at the family home yesterday afternoon at three o'clock. Burial was at the Stewart grave yard near his home.
From, TRIGG COUNTY, KENTUCKY CLIPPINGS (of Cadiz Record Newspaper) Vol. 15, Page 5, by BETTY SELLERS.
He donated the property for this Stewart Cemetery for family and other people in the community.
