Rites for Mrs. Barker
Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church Tuesday for Mrs. Katie Emaline Barker, a pioneer citizen who passed away last Friday. Rev. Charles Puckett was in charge, arrangement by Gus Pool Funeral home. Burial in Caddo Cemetery.
Mrs. Barker had lived in Bryan County sixty years, was a member of the Methodist church and had the love of all who knew her.

We (family) had Katie's middle name as beginning with an S. No way to know except going by census (which have lots of errors), from her stone we can see that it is really an E. and thanks to Mary now know her middle name.
In 1880 she was with her family in Grayson County, Texas.
She married Judge Loring Samuel William Folsom, sometime before 1894 in Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory (Oklahoma, was not a state yet). His parents were both one-half Choctaw, we understand and very active with his Nation, so that may be where the judge came from (his father was Col. David Folsom). He also was over 40 years her senior.(his birth years vary from 1815 to 1823, I go by 1822, from Indian Census Records). They had 5 children to the union. They are;
Bessie Georgia Folsom (1894-1977)
Irene W Folsom (1896-1980), husband John Edward Whitney.
Leon Folsom (1898-1899)
Victor Econa Folsom (1901-1972), wife Eathel Era Pherigo.
Henry Chase Folsom (1903-1977), wife Edna ???
Katie was widowed at age 38, Loring was 84 years old at the time of his death on Dec 31,1906.
Sept 4, 1907 she married William Thomas Barker in Bryan County, Oklahoma. To this union they had one child. He is;
Clifton Barker (1908-1980) wife Ruby Smith.
1910 they were in Township #12, Bryan County, Oklahoma, 1920 the were in Caddo, Bryan, Oklahoma, 1930 they were still in Caddo, Bryan, Oklahoma.
1948 it is said they were in Durant, Bryan, Oklahoma at the time of her death at the age of 80.
Relationship to our family. Sister-in-law to our Grand Aunt Minnie Ruth Barker, who married Katie's brother Elisha Kimsey Freeman. Katie's second husband William Thomas Barker is our Grand Uncle, brother to Minnie and our Grandfather Richard Polk Barker.
