Letha Irene Brown, 90, of Auburn died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at her residence.

She was born Sept. 17, 1908, in Aden, the daughter of Charles Edward and Grace Buchanan Baker. She married Ross H. Brown in 1925 in Springfield; he preceded her in death in 1988. She also was preceded in death by a son, Harold "Jake" Brown.

Mrs. Brown was employed as a baker with Southernview Restaurant for 15 years, retiring in 1973. She attended the Auburn Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors: four sons, Clarence (wife, Betty) Brown of Springfield, Carl James (wife, Virginia) Brown of Centralia, W. Gene Brown of Auburn and Charles Russell (wife, Mickie) Brown of Dawson; five daughters, Elsie (husband, Henry) Kahl of Hillsboro, Wanda R. (husband, Eugene) Affolter of Mexico, Mo., JoAnn (husband, Albert) Jones and Judith (husband, Bruce) O'Neil, both of Springfield, and Bernice (husband, Leonard) Kruse-White of New Berlin; 31 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Raymond, Russell (wife, Mary), Floyd (wife, Delores) and Paul (wife, Marie) Baker, all of Springfield; six sisters, Beulah Bodine and Helen (husband, Gerald) Horn, both of New Berlin, Opal Tuxhorn of Pawnee, Alice Crow of California, Mary Cheffe of Springfield and Myrtle Koke of Petersburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services: 1 p.m. Thursday, Calvert and Ferry Funeral Home, Auburn, the Rev. Linda Dennis officiating. Burial: Auburn Cemetery.
