Eunice L. Bean, age 83, died Saturday evening, June 27, 2009 at her home following an extended illness. Celebration of Life Service: 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 3, 2009
Harvest Baptist Church, Williamsburg with Pastor John Sauser officiating. Burial will be in the Ohio Cemetery, rural Ladora, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M.
Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Harvest Baptist Church, Williamsburg. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her husband George Jr.; three sons, Larry G. Bean (Margo) of Casper, WY, Leslie J. Bean (Susan) of Williamsburg and Don W. Bean (Tanya) of Marengo; daughter-in-law Barbara Disterhoft of Marengo; 18 grandchildren, Curt Bean (Amy), Lori Kelchen, Craig Bean (Alicia), Angie Plagmann (Harlan), Curtis Bauer(Idoia Elola), Joshua Bean (Fedia), Amber DeBernardo (Mike), Nathan Bean, Nicole Bean, Isaac Bean, Caitlin Love (Brian), Seth Bean, Emily Bean, Jacob Bean (Rebecca), Joseph White (Emily), John White (Jeanne), Jasmine Deeley (James), and Sierra Buckroyd (Robbie); and 20 great-grandchildren Sydney Bean, Harper Bean, Zachary Kelchen, Cody Kelchen, Colin Sandberg, Kaila Plagmann, Cetera Plagmann, Xavier Bean, Mia Sophia DeBernardo, Ella Bean, Samuel Bean, Lucas Bean, Teal Puls, Joseph White, Hailey White, Brianna Van Slyke, Katelin Van Slyke, John White IV, Sean Deeley, and Andrew Deeley. Also surviving is a brother Laurel Haas (Phyllis) of LaFeria, TX and a brother-in-law Keith Disterhoft of Marengo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Richard J. "Dick" in 1995, and two sisters, Marion Haas, and Rebecca Disterhoft. Eunice Luetta Bean was born August 13, 1925 in Iowa County, Iowa, the daughter of John F. and Esther Scandridge Haas. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1942 and married George Jacob Bean, Jr. on April 21, 1943 at the Ohio Methodist Church, Ladora, Iowa. Besides being a wife, mother and homemaker, Eunice worked at the telephone office, was an Amway distributor, worked in retail clothing stores and was an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed sewing, reading, playing the piano and going to the Old Creamery Theater events. She especially enjoyed attending all the grandchildren and great grandchildren's events with the family.
