James J. Tomsic, 71, of 105 Hawthorne St., Canonsburg, died Saturday, Jun. 14, 1980, in Canonsburg General Hospital.
He was born Aug. 4, 1908, in Strabane, a son of the late Ignatz Tomsic and Mary Kirn Tomsic of Strabane, who survives.
Mr. Tomsic was president of Tomsic Motor Co. and worked as a Chrysler-Plymouth automobile dealer for 51 years. He belonged to St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg, the Washington County Auto Dealers Association, and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, Canonsburg.
In the Moose Organization, he held the Legion Fellowship and the highest degree in the order of the Order of the Pilgrim. Mr. Tomsic was past governor of the Loyal Order of Moose District No. 3 Pennsylvania. He was past president of the Western Division of the Pennsylvania Moose Association.
He was a life member of the Canonsburg Elks Lodge. Mr. Tomsic was a director of the Slovenian Savings and Loan Association, SNPJ Lodge No. 138, and American Fraternal Union Lodge No. 149, both of Strabane. He spent most of his life in Strabane and Canonsburg.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Frances Podboy Tomsic; one daughter, Marjorie, wife of Frank Valencic of Strabane; one brother, William Tomsic of Strabane; and four grandchildren.
His first wife, Jennie Tershel Tomsic, died Dec. 22, 1950. A brother, Frank Tomsic, is also deceased.
