Ft. Oglethorpe Firefighter Volunteered As Clown
Edward Leon Ballew, 55, of Fort Oglethorpe, died on Thursday, January 10, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Ballew, Jr.
He was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church in Ringgold, and worked for Shaw Industries.
Eddie, known as Turn Out the Clown, was a member of Fort Oglethorpe Fire Department's Clown Battalion. He loved to work with the Children's Miracle Network & T.C. Thompson Children's Hospital.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Ballew of Fort Oglethorpe; sons, Kevin, Kenny, Keith, and Kyle Ballew, all of Akron, Oh.; mother, Lorine Ballew of Rossville; brothers, Bruce (Theresa) Ballew of Fort Oglethorpe, Tony (Renee) Ballew of Rock Springs; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, in the chapel with Rev. Danny Henson and Chaplain Neal Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens South.
His family will receive friends after 4 p.m. on Saturday, and all day Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to T.C. Thompson's Children's hospital 910 Blackford Street Chattanooga, Tn. 37403.
