He was born in Heber March 17, 1913 to Hugh Holdaway and Pearl Harmer. He Married Margaret Yocom Aug. 27, 1932 in Salt Lake City. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He received his education in Salt Lake City. He attended the University of Utah for a year. After his marriage to Margaret Yocom, the couple made their first home in Salt Lake City and later moved to Provo, to Lindon and to Orem.
Mr Holdaway was a member of the Orem Lions Club and had served as past international counselor in the Lions Club. He was a member of the Iron and Steel Engineers Association. He was a member of the Alpine Country Club.
He was an Elder in the Orem Second Ward. His hobbies included golf, bowling and handball.
Survivors include his widow; four sons: Marvon D. Holdaway, Pleasant Grove; Robert E. Holdaway, Newman, Ga.; Donald H. Holdaway, Lindon; Dennis F. Holdaway, Orem; a daughter: Mrs. Victor L. (Mareen) Brown Jr., Salt Lake City; 21 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; mother: Pearl H. Holdaway, Orem; four brothers: Loren Demar, Holdaway, Sandy; George H Holdaway, Palo Alto, Calif.; David H. Holdaway, Los Angeles; Richard E Holdaway; Upland, Calif.; two sisters: Mrs. Henry (Ida Ortel) Boelter, Clearfield; and Mrs Dale (Laure Elaine) Mattingly, Fremont, Utah.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in th Berg Drawing Room Chapel of Provo. Friends may call at the mortuary Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday before services. Bishop James Starley will officiate at the funeral. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
