According to the entries for May 7-8, 1894, in the John Lawrence Diary, evidently Mr. Bulen somehow got his foot caught in his cart at his home place and was dragged to death by the mare pulling the cart. He was alone at the time of this horrible accident and his body was not found until late in the day. He was buried the next day [May 8] at Hillside Cemetery. He lived alone as his wife had died the previous year.
