Ambrose J. Volk, 79, R.R.6, Greensburg, died at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1987, in the Community Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born Dec. 4, 1908, in Decatur County, the son of Joseph and Anna Topmiller Volk. He married Elizabeth J. Wesseler April 14, 1934, and she preceded him in death May 13, 1983. He was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church, Enochsburg.

He is survived by two sons, Maurice Volk, Greensburg, and Albert Volk, Osgood; six daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Bernice) Diekhoff, Westport, Mrs. Alfred (Eleanor) Yager, Rushville, Mrs. Carl (Clara) Meyer Jr., Batesville, Mrs. Joseph (Mildred) Stein Jr., and Mrs. Michael (Donna) Hoover, both of Greensburg, and Mrs. Samuel (Ann) Milligan, South Bend; one brother, Vincent Volk, Indianapolis; two sisters, Emma Wessling, Beech Grove, and Gladys Heichelbech, Fairfield, Ohio; 32 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Christine.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the St. John's Catholic Church in Enochsburg, with the Rev. Henry Brown and the Rev. John Geis officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home, Greensburg, after 4 p.m. Friday.

A rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Friday.
