Simeon served in the Civil War as a Private in Company C, 1st West Virginia Artillery from August 1862 to June 1863. His occupation was artist and photographer. He was widowed, living in Harrison County 3 September 1879 when he married 2nd, a widow, DRUCILLA MITCHELL, who was born about 1837, daughter of Richard and Mary Ann Dotson of Doddridge County. They were married by H. L. Taylor. In 1880, Simeon’s wife was listed as “Druzilla, born about 1834 in Virginia, and her parents had been born in Virginia.” They were in Harrison County in 1880. Drucilla Sayre purchased a house at Central Station, Doddridge County, West Virginia 28 February 1888. He applied for pension under No. 774367 on 10 May 1890. Record of a 3rd marriage was found in Wood County 4 October 1899 MRS. SARAH ELIZABETH (“LIZZIE”) HENDRICKSON who was born in May 1858 in Lawrence County, Ohio. She was living at Valcano, West Virginia at the time of the marriage. Lizzie Sayre, widow, applied for pension 20 August 1924 under No. 1222819.
