I think t's highly unlikely that Moses was the son of Benjamin Hampton and Ann Wildman Hampton.
First of all, I've seen the original Bible records, and they don't list Moses between Oliver (b. 1761) and James (b. 1764) amongst the children.
Secondly, Benjamin and Ann were prominant and faithful Quakers. As such, they didn't believe in military service and the men are listed as having paid hefty fines instead of going to war. All their family and friends did the same, so if Moses was in the Revolutionary War, it's highly unlikely that he belonged to this family.
Best wishes,
Mary Jo
