Samuel Marion Bliss was born Nov. 12, 1884 in Toquerville, Utah, the son of Orley Dwight & Harriet Josephine Lee Bliss. Some genealogical records show an early marriage to Maud May Thompson on Nov. 19, 1904, however I can find no documentation to validate this. Marion then married Mary Alnora Larson on May 22, 1907 in Price, Utah. Mary died in 1923, and Marion married Edna May Emert on July 22, 1925 in Price. They were the parents of a daughter.Marion was Sheriff of Carbon County for many years. He was shot to death on the Angus Robb farm on April 23, 1945 at age 60. "Sheriff Bliss was accidentally shot and killed by a posse member while attempting to arrest a murder suspect near Price, Utah. As Sheriff Bliss approached the suspect he was shot in the chest by a posse member who accidentally fired his weapon. The murder suspect was shot and killed in a shootout one hour later."
