CLINTON — Mabel Alice Certain, 92, of Clinton, died at 7:40 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2009, at Vermillion Convalescent Center.

She was born Oct. 16, 1916, in Lotta, Italy, to Antonio Bazzani and Carolina Berti.

She was a registered nurse at Clinton Hospital. She graduated from St. Anthony's School of Nursing in 1938, and was a member of the Florence Nightingale Society. She also was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Tri Kappa Sorority, and Dreamland Pleasure Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Franklin Certain, in 1986; and a brother, Fred Bazzani.

Survivors include sons, Frank Certain and his wife Jeanie of Clinton, and Tom Certain and his wife Jackie of Portland, Maine; six grandchildren, Michele Bogetto, Anthony Certain, Jeff Certain, Michael Certain, Andrew Certain and Lindsay Certain; four great-grandchildren, Cayli and Dalton Bogetto, Alex and Austin Certain.

Prayer service is 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at Karanovich-Giovanini Funeral Home, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, with Father Joseph Villa officiating. Burial is at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Southern Care Hospice, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
