March 8, 1927 to October 30, 2006 Donald Joseph Danner, Sr. passed away on October 30, 2006 as a result of a stroke, at the age of 79. Donald was born in Ocean Beach, California on March 8, 1927, one of 2 children born to Joseph and Florence Danner. Although Donald grew up and spent many years in Ocean Beach, he moved his young family to Crest in 1952 and remained a resident of Crest until his death. Donald was a lineman for SDG&E and retired from the utility company in 1992, after 47 years of service. Donald was a devoted member of the Jehovah's Witnesses and considered his baptism and active participation a cornerstone of his life. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Colleen, his daughter Debbie, his brother Howard Joseph, and his grandson Richard. He is survived by his four children, Dan of Aurora, Colorado; Don of San Diego; Tim of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; and Loretta Mortensen of Lakeside; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A graveside ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2006, at 11:00 a.m., at the Alpine Cemetery in Alpine.
