Age 99, of Colora, MD, died June 10, 2009, at Union Hospital, Elkton, MD.
Peter was born in Philadelphia, PA. He had lived in Colora with his sister since 2001 and previously with his daughter-in-law, Patricia Mangold in Rising Sun, MD from 1984-2001. He was a transport officer for the Elkton Sheriff Department for 7 years retiring in the early 1980's, prior to Elkton he was the Chief of Police for Bethel Police Dept. for 23 years. Peter was a member of the Masonic Concord Lodge 625 F&AM, FOP Lodge 2 Elkton, MD, Crime Search Team Belair Barracks, Northeast, MD, Rising Sun Seniors Center, Lifetime member of the Bethel Hose Co. #1. He also enjoyed hunting and dancing.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Jenney M. Andryitis Mangold; wife, Ellen R. Larkin Mangold who died in 1969; son, Robert H. Mangold who died in 1996; 2 sisters, Helen Stigile and Emma Ross; 1 brother, Charles Mangold. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Patricia Mangold of Elkton, MD; sister, Ada Henderson of Colora, MD; brother, Paul Mangold of Bear, DE; granddaughter, Debbie Lynn Pippin of Landenberg, PA; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 13, 11 am, at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Bethel Twp., PA and a Masonic Service at 10:50 am. Interment will be in Siloam United Methodist Church Cemetery, Garnet Valley, PA. Viewing, Saturday, 10-11 am, at the funeral home.
