Clifford R. "Bud" Johnson died Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at the Stanton Health Center in Stanton.
Clifford R. "Bud" Johnson was born October 30, 1924 in Plattsmouth, Nebraska to Clifford Sr. and Evelyn (Stiles) Johnson. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943 - 1946. He served in the Philippines and Japan under General Douglas MacArthur and General Bell receiving the American Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star. Bud married Harriett McGale on May 25, 1946 in Crown Point, Indiana. The couple lived in Chicago and Plattsmouth, Nebraska before moving to Columbus in 1965. Bud worked for Lyman-Richey Sand & Gravel for 39 years until retiring in 1990. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, VFW #3704 and a Big Brother Volunteer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.
