D. R. GURWELL

DIED - At the home of his son, E. Gurwell, in Creston, Iowa, on Feb. 16, 1899, D. R. Gurwell, aged 88 years.

Mr. Gurwell was born in Westmoreland county, Penna., Oct. 30, 1811. He emigrated to Ohio and was married to Miss. R. Spielman in 1831. In 1846 he moved with his family to Van Buren county, Iowa, remaining there until 1870, when he removed to Monroe county, where he remained until 1898, when he went to make his home with his son in Creston.

Mr. Gurwell has been identified with the best interests of Iowa for many years, having come here before it was admitted to the Union. He was widely known and highly respected.

He leaves 6 children to mourn his loss, among whom is Mrs. Clark Whitten. Two of the children, B. Gurwell of Thomas county, Kansas, and E. Gurwell of Creston accompanied the remains to Russell.

The funeral services were held at the home of his grandson, Ed Gurwell in Russell. The Patriot extends sincere sympathy to relatives and friends.

D. R. GURWELL

DIED - At the home of his son, E. Gurwell, in Creston, Iowa, on Feb. 16, 1899, D. R. Gurwell, aged 88 years.
