Freda Mae Bowles was born January 16, 1932 in Jackson County and departed this life Monday, June 8, 2009 at the St. Joseph East Hospital in Lexington, being 77 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Stanley & Mary (Stewart) Harrison.

Freda is survived by seven children- Randall Earl Bowles & Mary of London, Donald D. Bowles & Linda, Lonnie Dale Bowles & Bonnie, Stewart Wayne Bowles & Gail & Glenn Allen Bowles & Penny all of Sand Gap, Curt Douglas Bowles of London and Brenda Joy Gray & Jr. of Berea. She is also survived by two brothers- Jack Harrison of Indiana and Stanley Harrison Jr. of Ohio and by four sisters- Betty Richardson of Indiana, Gladys Hellard of Indiana, Cecil Izor of Indiana and Jean Moles of Florida. Freda was blessed with fourteen grandchildren- Dianna Madden, Donna Bowles, Jeff Bowles, Tonya Shannon, Mitchell Bowles, Angela Isaacs, Stephen Bowles, Allen Bowles, Tammy Allen, Melinda King, Chris Bowles, Nathaniel Bowles, David Sparks & John Cevin Sparks and by several great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Freda was preceded in death by a brother- Jerry Harrison and by a half brother- Carl Felty.

Freda was a member of the Sand Gap Christian Church.


Funeral service was held 3:00 PM Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Gerald Maupin and Bro. Dewey Harrison officiating. Burial followed in the Harrison Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chris, Jeff, Nathaniel & Mitchell Bowles, David & Kevin Sparks. Lakes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
