A lifelong resident of the Ronceverte WV. area. Mr. Weikle was a member of the Ronceverte Presbyterian Church. He has organizational ties with the Shryock Lodge No.47 AF & AM, Elks Lodge No. 1758, the Beni Kedem Shriners and Odd Fellows Lodge.
Mr. Weikle's love for flying was eminent in his instructing flying students at the former Boone Field in Fairlea. During World War II, he was flight instructor at Huntington WV. and Blacksburg VA. He was a former owner and operator of Greenbier Valley Aviation. The FHA designate Mr. Weikle as a flight examiner.
Mr. Weikle's career took him into auto mechanics as was evident with his being owner and operator of the former Auto Super Service in Ronceverte. He, too, was owner operator of the Trading Post in Ronceverte.
In recognition of his interest in aviation and his meritorious service to this state, in 1974 Mr. Weikle was the recipient of "Flight Instructor of the Year" and "Distinguished West Virginian" awards.
Mr. Weikle was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Waugh Weikle, and two brothers, Layman E. Weikle and Marcus L. Weikle.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs Theldra W. Humphries of Covington VA. And Mrs. Dorothy W. Buckland of Berea KY. And four brothers Lawrence A. Weikle and Cebert B. Weikle of Covington, VA., James R. Weikle of Alderson WV. and Warren F. Weikle of Denver CO.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2pm at the Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte WV. with the Rev. Donald Loudermilk. Masonic graveside rites will follow at the Riverview Cemetery in Ronceverte.
Friends may call after 4 pm Thursday and the family will receive friends from 7pm to 9pm Thursday evening at the Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte.
Masons of the Shryock Masonic Lodge will be pallbearers.
