Eleventh of 12 children born to Abrham Monnett and Catherine Braucher Monnett.

Married to James Calvin ("Cal") Tobias with whom she shared fifty happy years of marriage.

Upon their relocation to California, The Tobias' residence in Bucyrus, Ohio was purchased by Mrs. Tobias brother Mervin Monnette, and donated for use as Monnett Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Tobias was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and the granddaughter Rev. Jeremiah Crabb Monnett who was a minister of that faith.
