Francis S. Herrick was a 28 year-old Cordwainer, residing in Beverly, Mass. when he enlisted on August 13, 1862, as a Private, and on September 19, 1862 he mustered into "E"Co., , MA 8th Infantry. He Mustered Out on August 7,1863 at Boston, Mass.
On May 3, 1864 he musterd into "2nd" Co., MA.Unattached Infantry. On May 28, 1864 h was promoted to Corporal He was Mustered Out August 6, 1864.
The next day, August 7, 1864 he mustered into "2nd" Co., Mass. Unattached Infantry. He Mustered Out November 15, 1864.
November 16, 1864 he mustered into "2nd" Co., MA Unattached Infantry. He Mustered Out on July 7, 1865.
Francis S. Herrick, 24, a Beverly cordwainer, son of Reuben & Elisabeth Herrick, married Dec 11,1858 in Beverly, Abbie H. Wells, 24 year-old Beverly resident, daughter of John & Sally Wells. The marriage was performed by John Nichols, Clergyman. It was a first marriage for each of them.
Sally (Wells) Herrick died in 1862, in Beverly.
