GIBSON CITY (PNS) – Francis M. Allen, 89, died at 11:55 a.m. Friday at the Americana Nursing Center, Champaign.
His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Lamb Funeral Home, the Rev. Allan Anderson and Rev. Donald Bixby officiating. Burial will be in Gibson City Cemetary.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was born July 22, 1886, in Dahlgren, a son of James Masten and Lucelia Catherine Myers Allen. He married Flora Elizabeth Goin Jan. 23, 1907, at Mount Vernon. She survives at the Americana Nursing Center, Champaign.
Also surviving are six sons, Kenneth Jacob "Bush", LeRoy; Orville Ralph, Cullom; Merritt Delwon "Dell", Cairo, Mo.; Leroy Eugene and Elwood Dean "Deak", both of Gibson City, and Merle Wayne "Shorty", Decatur; two daughters, Mrs. Flossie Edith Allen Messick, Rankin; Mrs. Harriet Elizabeth Allen Marcum, LeRoy; a brother, Elmer Young, Wayne City; three sisters, Mrs. Lillie Jane Goin, Camdenton, Mo.; Mrs. Lena Pearl Allen Smith, Clinton, and Mrs. Allie Mae Allen Hufstutler, Mount Vernon; 31 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren, and eight great great-grandchildren.
Two sons, a brother, and five grand-children preceded him in death.
He was a retired farmer who had lived in the Gibson City area since 1943.
