Andrew Sands Dunn, Sr. was born in Pennsylvania, and he was the brother of Thomas Dunn, William Dunn, Joseph Dunn, and maybe one other sibling. Andrew was married to Mary Elizabeth Ripper Dunn. Andrew and Mary moved from Pennsylvania to California in the early 1900's. Andrew was a woodturner and cabinet/furniture maker by trade. He had a big wood workshop behind his house on Figeroa Street in Los Angeles, where he spent much of his time working. He would build wooden toys for his grandchildren when they came to visit.
Andrew's grandkids lovingly called him 'Grandpap'.
Andrew was the father of Blainie Grace Dunn Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Dunn Gross, and Andrew Sands Dunn, Jr.
Andrew was said to be very humourous.
